St. Patricks day and the problem i have with it

Someone tell me how on a day about a saint, means are to get drunk. i never understood this EVER.

St. Patrick apperently drove the snakes out of Irland, so that means what? EVERYONE LETS GET DRUNK. me i dont drink that often, i did not drink last night . nor will i ever drink on what ever day of the month st. patricks day is on every year.

I just find it amazing how the non christian world just amps everyone up for it, like its never coming back.
